Kitts Green is a suburb district of Birmingham. It is located eastward of Birmingham Town’s center at a distance of approximately 5 miles and lies on the OS grid reference of SP152872.

Its border has neighbouring villages such as Garretts Green, Lea Hill, Tile Cross and Lea Village. The district was originally located within Warwickshire Town.

The earliest mentioning of the district was in 1495. According to historians, due to the fact that a family name was added to the district ‘s name, it simply shows that the Kitts family took ownership of a what used to be a farmland. The 1834 map for Ordinance survey indicated that the present Kitts Green district was situated between Lea village and Yockleton Road.

The housing estate of the municipality of Kitts Green was constructed before second World War began. It was constructed as an initiative of the City Council to develop the area. The housing estate was constructed to provide accomodation to thousands of Kitts Green residents. It is located in the northern axis of the district ; between Tile Cross and Stechford.

The present area of the district referred to as Kitts Green is located westward of the district’s original site and its name was culled from Kitts Green Road, bwhhch is the road that passes across the estate. The original site of Kitts Green is now referred to as Lea village.

One of the Landmarks found in Kitts Green is the James Aluminum Company. The factory was constructed in 1938 on the road of Kitts Green. The factory was quite instrumental as it manufactured equipment during world War. The company has been administered by several people but it has continued supplying strong aluminium to aeroplane engineers across the world. It is currently the biggest aluminum toking company in UK.

The major means of transportation in the district is through the road as its efficient bus services connect to areas within and outside Birmingham city.
