PDS Painting Birmingham paints and decorates homes, rented properties and business premises across the city, inside and out. Living rooms, hallways and stairs, rendered fronts, timber windows, office suites and warehouse floors all get the same careful routine.

Every job starts with a visit. We look at the surfaces, measure up and then send a written quote, so you know exactly what’s being done before anyone opens a tin. Most of our time on site goes into preparation - filling, sanding, sealing and priming - because that’s what decides whether a finish still looks right years from now.

What Do You Need Painting?

Choose the job that matches yours and we’ll point you to the page that covers it in full.

Inside Your Home

Our interior painting and decorating in Birmingham covers walls, ceilings, woodwork, stairwells and full-house redecoration.

For pattern and texture, we offer wallpaper hanging, from a single feature wall to whole rooms.

We also handle coving installation, fitting new lengths and painting them in with the ceiling.

Outside Your Home

Our exterior house painting takes in render, brickwork, masonry, fascias and soffits, booked around dry weather.

Sashes, casements and front doors are covered by our timber window and door painting - timber only, never uPVC.

Out in the garden, we do fence and decking painting and staining in settled spring and summer weather.

Businesses, Offices and Industrial Units

We provide commercial painting and decorating for offices, shops, hospitality venues, schools and healthcare premises, working out of hours or in phases so you can stay open.

Warehouses, workshops and factory units can have their concrete protected with industrial floor painting and epoxy coatings.

Landlords and Letting Agents

Our end of tenancy and landlord painting gets a property repainted between tenancies, with stains sealed and walls ready to let. Give us the move-in date and we’ll plan the work back from it.

How a PDS Painting Job Works, From Quote to Handover

Every job follows the same five steps, whether it’s one bedroom or a three-storey office.

  1. Site visit. We look at every surface, take measurements and talk through colours, finishes and timing with you.
  2. Written quote. You get a quote listing the surfaces, the preparation, the products and the finish, so nothing is left vague.
  3. Protection. Floors are sheeted, furniture is moved or covered, and edges, glass and fittings that aren’t being painted are masked.
  4. Preparation. Cracks and dents are filled, repairs sanded flush, gaps caulked, and bare or marked areas primed or stain-blocked.
  5. Painting and handover. We paint, tidy up at the end of each day and walk round the finished job with you before signing off.

Nothing is signed off until you’ve walked round it with us and are happy with what you see.

If preparation uncovers something the quote couldn’t allow for, such as soft timber behind old paint or blown plaster, we stop and talk it through with you before doing anything extra.

Where in Birmingham Do We Work?

We cover the whole of Birmingham city, including Sutton Coldfield. That takes in everything from Victorian terraces near the centre to interwar semis and post-war estates on the outskirts, and the commercial premises in between. Our base is on Princip Street in B4, close to the city centre, so no part of Birmingham is a long trip for us.

Four parts of the city have their own pages, with local housing notes and jobs nearby:

How Much Does a Painter and Decorator Cost in Birmingham?

The price depends on the job in front of us, not a set day rate. The main factors are room size and ceiling height, the condition of the surfaces and the preparation they need, the number of coats and quality of paint, access, and whether rooms are empty or furnished.

Every quote is fixed in writing after a visit. For a fuller explanation of each factor, see our Birmingham painter and decorator price guide.

Painting and Decorating Advice

Our guides answer the questions we’re asked most on visits. Four good places to start:

Painter and Decorator Birmingham Questions

How much does a painter and decorator charge per day in Birmingham?

Day rates vary from one decorator to the next, and a day rate on its own tells you little about the final bill. We price the whole job instead, after a visit, with the surfaces, preparation and products written down, so the cost doesn't creep up as the days go by. Our painter and decorator price guide explains what affects the figure.

How long does it take to paint a 3-bedroom house?

It depends on how many rooms are included, whether ceilings and woodwork are being done, how much preparation the walls need and whether you're living there while we work. We'll give you a timescale with your quote once we've seen the house. Our guide on how long it takes to paint a room or a house covers the main factors.

When is it too cold or wet to paint outside in the UK?

Outside paint needs a dry surface, no rain due while it sets, and air and surface temperatures above the minimum on the paint's data sheet - often around 5°C, higher for some products. Frost, early dew and damp evenings matter too, so we plan exterior work around the forecast. Our masonry and render painting guide goes into more detail.

Do you move furniture and protect floors?

Yes. We move furniture into the middle of the room, or out of it where there's space, and cover it with dust sheets. Floors are sheeted wall to wall, and switches, sockets, glass and anything not being painted is masked. We'd just ask you to put away valuables and fragile ornaments before we arrive.

Are your painters DBS-checked and insured?

Yes. Our painters are DBS-checked, which matters when we're working in lived-in homes, around children, or in schools and care settings. We also have insurance in place for the work we carry out, on homes and business premises alike.

Can you work evenings or weekends for businesses?

Yes. For shops, offices, restaurants and other premises that can't close, we can work evenings, weekends or in phases, one area at a time, so you keep trading. The schedule is agreed with you before we start. You'll find more on our commercial painting and decorating page.

Which parts of Birmingham do you cover?

The whole of Birmingham city, including Sutton Coldfield, Erdington, Hall Green and Great Barr. If your home or premises is inside the city boundary, we can come and quote. Every neighbourhood we cover is listed by postcode on our areas we cover page.
