Pype Hayes housing estate is a modernised area around the eastern part of Erdington’s district in Birmingham within the ward of Tyburn. The name for this housing estate area, Pype Hayes, came from a significant land-owner in Erdington, famously known as Henry. On this same land, Henry constructed a house that later saw development, becoming the hall of Pype Hayes.

Pype Hayes majorly saw development during the 2000s because of the sudden expansion of the area, Erdington, towards Chester Road. Chester Road later follows the ancient drover Road line known as Welsh Road. Around the 1700s, this road became a significant thoroughfare passing through Birmingham.

Around the mid 20th century, this housing estate became the primary focus for residential housing development for the Erdington area. Furthermore, the focus was because the public was hoping for houses they could stay in that lies close to their places of work in Tyburn. So, the chosen road for primary housing development was Eachelhurst’s Road.

Pype Hayes has no railway facilities, but residents would easily find the railway station at this road by the main cross-city line moving towards Chester Road. Close to this station are Water Orton and Erdington railway stations.

Pype Hayes modern housing estate sits comfortably at the easternmost part of Erdington district in Birmingham. Its landmass covers the different postcodes of B24 and B76. This area, like any other in Birmingham, is under the sovereign government of the United Kingdom.

Around February of 2012, Pype Hayes’ hall came up for auction, and it remains today as it is now owned by private hands. The purchase became finalised around November of 2013 for about £25,000. Judging from the November of 2019 inspection, Pype Hayes’ hall lies derelict, having received no form of development.
