Many houses on this ward’s Ridgacre Estate consisted of a medium-sized semi-detached privately-owned house from around the 1930s to the 1940s. However, construction stopped during this period due to the on-going second World War. What remains of some spaces around the 1950s went into the construction of Council houses.
Quinton, which lies alongside Harborne, Edgbaston, and Bartley Green, is part of Edgbaston, Birmingham. The entire landmass of Quinton is under the postal district code of B32. Around the 18th century, this ward, The Quinton (previously called), had two coal mines. And its residents got jobs to work in the nail manufacturing business. There were no plans for factory development in Quinton because of the objections by residents. They rejected the possibility of having toxic fumes getting to their homes.
Some of the notable characters living in Quinton are Keith Law (a songwriter), Adrian Chilled, Bill Oddie, Joleon Lescott, The Twang, and many others. This area is the home to two football teams, the Quinton Rangers and Quinton Magpies.
