Rotton Park ward is a small area in Birmingham, England. Rotton Park is a combination of the northern part of the ward of Edgbaston and the famous southern area of the ward of Soho, unto the boundaries of the city.
Several sources are claiming to know the beginning of this ward’s name. Some residents and non-residents claim it came from the famous Anglo-Saxon’s “rot tun”, which means a cheerful farm. While some other persons claim it came from the known Rotton family name. Rotton (Bridget and Ambrose) had a long-standing timber-framed building, now referred to as the Stratford House.
In Rotton Park, several landmarks make it an attractive site for many. The Edgbaston Reservoir and the Loop of Icknield Port lie adjacent to the Birmingham Canal. Another popular landmark in this ward is its churches, the City Road of Baptist Church, Methodist City Road Church, and the Anglican Church of Christ.
This ward, Rotton Park, is one of the many areas in Birmingham. It lies in the Western Midlands region of England, and it is under the sovereign government of the United Kingdom. The coordinates of Rotton Park in Birmingham is 52°28’47°N 1°56’13” W. The police, ambulance, and most other public task forces all come from this ward’s county, Birmingham.
The first time this ward’s name came to light, that is in the record, was around the 12th century (precisely 1275). A document of 1307 refers to a certain “Parc de Juxta Rotten Birmingham.”
In the middle 1950s, a local professional land agent, Chesshire John, built a house for a famous, wealthy banker, Jones Lloyd Samuel, the Lord Overstone. The estate has a detached building in Vernon, Clarendon, and Montague Roads. One of the villas took after the name of his youngest son, Gillott Joseph.
