The Shard End ward is a small area in Birmingham, England. This ward, Shard End, is within the Hodge Hill District, and it borders Kingshurst towards the eastern part and Castle Bromwich towards the northern region. According to the conducted census of 2011, Shard End has about 26,794 residents on its shores. Shard End’s population density is about 41.1/ha.
Before the Second World War ended, Shard End ward was an entirely rural settlement having its only buildings like farmhouses, tithe cottages, and farm outbuildings. Of the several famous residents, an infamous occupant is Abraham Thornton, the Shard End’s farmland owner’s son.
This infamous resident murdered a girl, Ashford Mary, according to the presiding authority in the year 1817. The trial events of Abraham Thornton caused the removal of two old legal rights; the right for an accused to have a relative demanding another trial even after the acquisition and the accused’s standing right to defend themselves by duelling the relative.
In 1945, Shard End created a plan for a housing estate and by 1946, there was an issue for compulsory orders. Around the late 1940s did the construction for this estate start. The estate got completed by gradually adding some varieties of housing facilities. After this time, there were about nine towers fully constructed in this ward.

By January of 2013, the Saints Square work was complete aiming to enhance a bad area in the city. The development of this area included an onsite parking space with several local buses running throughout the area. The project saw several new apartments and homes with an undertaking partnership with Greswoulde construction and Barratt Development.
