This small town, West Heath, lies close to the boundary along with Worcestershire. It is a small residential area in Birmingham, England. West Heath forms a bigger portion of the Longbridge ward, and the location of this residential area is between Northfield, Kings Norton, and Cofton Hackett.
Around the 1900s, this residential area, West Heath, was a small, unpopular village originally on the Lilley Medieval Lane. After the Second World War, growth, development, and expansion became very prevalent.
The initial expansion from the 1940s to 1950s were mostly a large percentage of prefab types of houses. However, the replacement of these houses with real estate took place between the 1960s about the 1970s. Till today, there exist several houses in this small town dating as far back as the early 19th century.
West Heath lies near the traditional Heathland. In the 13th century, West Heath was among the Kings Norton lands, which were historical in Worcestershire. West Heath is under the sovereign government of the United Kingdom in the West Midlands. It has a postcode district of B31, B38 and dialling code of 0121.
The establishment of the hospital in West Heath took place around 1889 as a well-known infectious disease clinic. It then became popularly known as a tuberculosis hospital around 1910. In 1980, it no longer took either of those descriptive names but that of a geriatric hospital.
For several years, West Heath has held an annually celebrated event at the beginning of September called the Produce Show and West Heath’s Flower. Initially, this event always occurred at the church of St Anne’s Hall but moved to the Hampstead House located around the Condover Road by the community centre of West Heath in 2011, during the 77th show.
